Musiq is the type of artist who has always dared to do things the unconventional way by mixing his quintessential poetry with rhythms that speak to the listener like no other artist in his generation can manage.
There is no surprise in the fact that his newest album Onmyradio is one of the top albums of the year. The guy just hits the notes in a way that the audience he speaks to –both male and female –just starts moving as if to answer a dire call for soul and essence.
There are many songs that jump off the disk as you play it. Iwanabe, Sobeautiful, and Backagain are some of the best songs on the album.
At first listen you might not be ready to accept this genuinely gifted artist as the savior of the troubling music industry, but when you listen to the album again, and again as I have, you will understand why Musiq has been able to carve a special niche for himself. To be honest, the guy cannot be duplicated. There are artists out there who will try to emulate him, but it will be to their downfall. Much like his earlier album Luveanmusiq, Onmyradio is an album that will transcend time.
